The World Championship in ICE Hockey 2011 in SLOVAKIA:

We have just experienced the first day of The World Championship in Ice Hockey 2011 which is for the first time taking place in Slovakia. The Slovak republic was founded in 1993, so in our short and still pretty interesting history, we are hosting the event greater than the great for the very first and hopefully not last time.
I remember several years ago, when I was deeply in the teenage periode of my life, we, better said our ice hockey representants won the Gold medail in Goeteborg in Sweden. I remember the amazing feeling and being proud of them. In that times I was at my life peak of being ice hockey funny fan. I just loved that game and after time of " Who the hell the Slovaks are" these guys managed to take Slovakia higher as probably none of our politicians have been capable of.
And even since that time we as the nation gained the Bronze medail and some nice places in first top ten. Due to its existance, Slovakia took it higher, build up image cross the nations and showed our spirit on all the sport s TVs in the world.
Nowadays, our little big country, (as you might know this advertising slogan: wowky..) is exposed to show how little is. Because, we are little. I am pretty sure that the distance from Bratislava to Košice for tourists - fans used to live in big countries is nothing. ( In this chapter we do not speak about the quality of some trains, and about no great chances to fly from Bratislava to Košice, not at all).
I am writing about the true we are little and there can be times when we will look like unprepeared and not organized ( I hope that not any kind of crucial ashaming situations, but we never know...). Shit happens , it is natural. Unfortunaltely when you are little country with kind of international faux paux, e.g. The cancelling of Olympic games for deaf people , the national or international public can easily use another measures for us.. We will see. I am praying for the best of the organizing the Championsship.

But besides that I believe that nothing can stop our nation to show of how BIG country actually we are. How HOSPITABLE we are and how PROUD of being Slovaks we should be. Living in willage situated in north of Slovakia, seeing 6 out of 10 cars with the national flag stuck on its roof, seeing all the souvenirs in the shops, reading articles about hockey from everywhere, it just makes me feel like : "Yes, it is happening in our country. I should be proud fan even I am not big hockey buddy anymore. I should hold my positive feelings and wishes for it as well. Even though I am bothered by Facebook aplication Fandim našim. And primarily I should not use the word should, because ... I AM."
Finally but not lastly, I realize that this might be the end of our GOLDEN hockey era and probably start of another one.
Hovewer, it does not matter, if the guys are going to be golden, silver, or just the sixth. The only what matters is how their game will represent their spirit and how we as their home country will represent itself across all over the world. And together , how we will bring the image of Slovakia out.
We are little, we do, but our Heart is big. Let us show it off.
